Bachata Beginner 1
Wednesdays 8:30-9:45pm.
Dates: 6.6, 6.13, 6.20, 6.27, 7.4, 7.11
Description
Bachata is a music form with origins in the Dominican Republic. It is also a popular partner dance in the Latin scene. While folkloric in origin and sound, Bachata has become increasingly fused with R&B and other contemporary music styles. To dance Bachata nightclub style, as in Salsa, it is important to recognize the 4/4 measure. The slow tempo and "pop" of Bachata makes for a distinct sensual feel. Like other Latin partner dances, Bachata works off of a three step timing and relies on a strong lead-follow connection. Learning Bachata will add beautiful and useful elements to your dance repertoire, including improved timing in all dances, smoothness and dance floor confidence.
Format
Bachata Basics begins with a stretch, followed by open step sequences danced in line. Partner dance repertoire includes leading and following basic step variations, right and left turns, cross-body lead, veils, and position changes. Music folder is provided.
